Default Bose speakers ?

Hi,

Is it worth upgrading to the Bose speakers? How good is the standard speaker setup ?

Thanks,
Charles.

Depends on what model A3 you have.
The new A3 comes standard with the Audi Concert or Symphony systems. I have the standard Concert and it has 8 speakers with excellent sound. The A3 is not a big car and I feel the system works fine. Bose speakers will give a better quality but dunno if it will be worth the extra expense. Guess its all personal choice.

I'm planning on gettting the new A3 Sportback.
8 speakers sounds like it would be adequate, I don't want a hugely powerful sound, just a pretty good quality sound that is decent when the volume is a bit higher.

I think the standard "Concert" system will do the trick, or you can otherwise request the Symphony" system. Both very high quality and doubt you will need Bose speakers. Ask the dealer for a sound test.

When I bought my A4 I tested the standard stereo (symphony II I believe...6-disc CD changer + 10 speakers incl. subwoofer) against the Bose upgrade and I could not tell the difference.

I listened to a couple songs on CD's back to back with both systems. I will say though I am not an "audiophile" so a more discriminating buyer might be able to tell the difference.

I got a test drive in an A3 sportback with the standard Concert audio setup and I though the sound was a bit tinny. I assume the Bose system will be an improvement on this? The dealer doesn't have an A3 with bose system in stock..

Strange you say tinny sound, as mine is superb....have you adjusted the treble and bass. Still, if you want the best, rather go for the bose system for peace of mind and excellent sound quality.

By the way, can you get the Bose sound system with the Concert radio?
I assume you don't need to also upgrade to the Symphony radio?

Thanks,
Charles.

If theres one thing I miss about my A3 it's the fact that it hasn't got bose fitted.I had it in my TT and it was fantastic....very clear even when the volume wouldn't go any higher.

i consider the bose speakers base to be too strong
so i personally wouldn't go with it
