Any one know of where there is a step by step guide on how to change the cambelt on a 99 A3 1.8T?

I would suggest buying a decent service manual like Haynes (http://www.haynes.com) - this will give you a step by step cambelt change procedure with pictures, along with pretty much anything else you might want to do in terms of DIY servicing/repairs.
