Hi

This is my first time on any forum. So any mistakes, sorry newbie. I have an A3 1.8T 97. Sometimes the car will not start. All the checks seem to come ok and then the symbol with the key appears and the car does not start. Has anyone else had this problem, any possible fixes?

The key light is the immobilizer light. It isn't reading your key, or your key isn't recognized.

The two most common reasons for this problem are:
1. The reader coil in the ignition switch is bad.
2. The key isn't programmed into the immobilizer.

Thanks for the swift response. I know that the key is programmed correctly to the immobiliser, so that means the problem is with the reader coil.
