Default Cigarette Lighter

Hey guys first post here,

I just bought a second hand audi a3 2002 1.8t and need help with repairing the cigarette lighter. When i push in the lighter it does not heat up so there must not be any electricity coming into the lighter. What and where do i need to open up to check the wiring? And is there a fuse i can check for??

thanks [8D]

have you tried using a car charger for a cell phone in there to check if it might be something in the lighter itself? just a thought.

yes infact i have tried both a cell phone car charger and an ipod FM transmiter+charger. Both didnt work so im sure there has to be a problem with the electricity supply

The fuse box is located on either the left or right side of the dash as you fully open either front door. Check your A3 manual for details of fuses and what each one protects. If it gives you no clues, then check each one individually.
