Default Clear bra

I have an 07 3.2 Q on the way and am pondering a 3M clear bra. A casual acquaintance who does tinting and clear bra stuff for a living went out of his way to tell me that the clear bra takes a beating and looks terrible after a few years. And it can't be permanently removed or even removed and then replaced without major paint work. He said he'd love to do one for me one but doesn't want jeopardize his wife's friendship with mine if the bra doesn't weather well. Who has had one for multiples of years and still likes it?

That's what I've heard. And also that the coating makes the engine bay / hood retain more heat (although I imagine it would be marginal).

I have one just on the tip of my hood. I can't really give you a nay or yay, and that being said I would venture to tell you don't waste the money unless you've got it to spare, and in that case you can give it to me so I can put it towards some rims. lol. It doesn't look bad though and I'm sure there maybe some benfit to it. Appearantly it allows the cars color to fade naturally, while offering the same protection as a regular bra. Most people either love it or hate it. Like I said I'm indifferent, but probably could think of better things to spend the money on. Dealership wrapped it up in a tint and clear bra package, and I was so exhausted that day after spending an inordinate amount of time choosing a car that I just said yes to get it over with. lol.

I am, however, not indifferent to my girlfriend getting a clear bra and would recommend that to anyone!

Just a quick thought (and I know this thread is over a month old so it may not apply) ; some of what they told you is incorrect. They can be removed safely from FACTORY paint, they do take the beating but even after many miles they are still clear. The paint on the other hand looks pretty bad. I have them on every car I own, and my motorcycle. I don't know that I will ever own a car without it. Just my $0.02

I have clear bra on my cayenne (2 years old and a lot of winter driving) and added it to my new 3.2. I think it works great and have friends who like the results. Given the snout on the A-3, it looked like a no-brainer if one is willing to spend the pesos.
