Default Concert + iPod = Song Titles?

hello again and thanks for reading!

i want to install and iPOD adaptor in my A3 however i haven't found any solution yet that supports song titles to be displayed. weird. my A3 came with the standard Concert single CD head. is anybody able to see song titles on their stereo? if so, what setup do you use?

thanks again!

It wont work. Non of the IPOD adapters are capable of displaying song titles on the head unit. You can always do my Itray mode tho.

Yeah, Audi is definitely behind the Ipod curve. I got the Audi Magazine yesterday and they are happily promoting the Audi Music Interface (AMI) which finally allows you to use all of the functions of the Ipod on have them on a screen in your car. Funny enough, they don't list when, or on what cars this option will be available.

Cheers!

As A3Night said, it's just not possible. Some (limited) functionality through your head unit is the best you can get.

Excellent link btw A3Night

again, thanks all for such a speedy reply (replies i must say). i guess if it just doesn't work, that's all i needed to know. i will just get one of the basic adaptors then and deal with it. do you guys know if the VW connector for the dension ice-link works on the audi concert head? or is it a different harness that is needed, saw some cheap VW ones, but no Audi ones.

A3Night: I am really digging your solution! makes me wonder why Audi doesn't offer such a think themselves. perfect location and nicely hidden away when not needed. besides, even if you r a smoker, that ashtray is too small ;-)

Yeah, thanks for the link. Figured that I wouldn't have an option there either. Aftermarket will have to take care of my Ipod & Satellite combination, eventually.

Cheers!

Not to be a stickler, but this is not strictly true. Plenty of of iPod adapters are capable of sending CD-TEXT song information, it's the Audi head units that are not capable of displaying this information. If you install a third-party head unit, most modern ones can display CD-TEXT.

I'm not saying you were wrong, just that the statement was a little misleading because it makes it sound as though the adapter is the problem. Just a clarification, that's all.
