So iv been looking to buy a used 2006 a3 for awhile now and i found one that i like but after looking at the carfax im alittle worried and skeptical about buying it.

i found the car on cars.com heres a link:

the car is a 06 and has already had 3 owners. The first owner it lists as a "corporate fleet lease". Im not exactly sure what this is but im guessing its cars a corporation lets there upper management use...which means the car may not have been broken in correctly ect...

The 2nd owner also only owned the car for 2 months in which time he put about 7k miles on it...strange in my opinion. And now the current seller is selling pretty quickly only 9months after owning the car.

The car does have a 100k warranty though...

When i told the seller my consern with the following his reponse was:

"no worries man, but keep in mind i have driven the car
everyday for 9 months and never had one problem with
it..the only reason i stress the warnaty is becuz its
a 2800.00 value that you get for 150.00. it drives
like a champ. i dont think you understand exactly what
a business fleet lease is, its and audi owned car that
one of the big wigs from audi drives for six months
then is bought from audi dealership and certified by
audi. all car companies do this with new models. it
was the 1st year that a3 was available on american
market, it has to be done..dosent mean it was ever a
loaner. like i said i do my resarch b4 buying a car
to. i would never have bought this car if it wasnt
certified..audi will not certify loaners, wrecked cars
or lemons.....if you still have any interest in this

What do you all think? solid car/deal? or should i wait for another a3?
i got the car loan yesterday so im all ready to buy...

i called audi usa and they checked the warranty it is still valid and no strange maintance or reports have been done.

Is what he says about the corp fleet lease correct or abunch of BS?

Years ago, I bought a 1999 Passat Wagon that was used by an Exec at VW then purchased by a dealer and sold to me. It was all legit and that car was a dream, although it had significantly less miles on it than yours. It sounds like a very plausable scenerio.

So what the seller told me about being owned by a corp big wig because it was the first year it came to the states is true?

 

I'm not telling you that what he said is true, because I don't know him or your car. All I'm saying is that I've had a similar experience to what he is telling you. It's not nearly out of the realm of possibilities, and it makes much better sense that it would be a new model car on the inaugural year.
