Default Difference between 07 and 06 A3 dash display thing

I test drove an 07 A3 2.0t, and noticed that on the display between the tach and speedo that you could set it to have a digital readout of your speed...

I bought an 06 A3 3.2, and it doesn't have this feature. Just computer 1 and 2 with the normal stuff, average speed and milage, distance to empty, etc.

Does this have something to do with a new ECU flash or is it just the different year. If I brought it to my dealer to have my ECU updated to the current software, would I recieve this feature?

I don't think so; there were a few changes from '06 to '07 - '07's can also read oil temp.

In '06, for the turbo, the sports package had the digital speedo and the premium did not. I don't know if the same kinda stuff applies for the 3.2.

I have an 07 A3 with premium package and I do have the option for the digital readout for my speed. It's locatedbetween the speedo and tach as specified in the previous thread.
I currently have the digital readout diplaying current exterior temp with mpg.

I have nav and i set mine up to show a compass as well as the street i'm currently on. Nifty, but not much more useful then anything else you can put on there.

I don't think that having the digital speedo was a stand alone option in '06. there were a few posts regarding the variance in readings between the digital and the analog, thats when i realized that the premium models do not have them. use your control stick and do a recheck. are u sure you don't have the digital?

I'm also one of those people who didn't compare anything. when i bought mine, all they had was a couple of premiums and a sport that was a tester. i didn't see the power seatin the sport so i went with thepremium.

I've driven the 07 2.0 S-line and the 06 3.2 (which includes s-line standard).

The 07 had the digitial speedo, and my 06 3.2 doesn't! This is confusing.

You'll also need to have the DSG to have the speedo in 2006, if I'm not mistaken.

Cheers!
