Default Dtc 12296

I have just used a Max scan VAG405 to read the error codes from my Audi A3 2006. It is showing 12296 but gives no description. Does anyone know what this code means?
Many thanks

near as I can figure, you have a camshaft position sensor problem. your scanner gives non-standard (at least to us) results. Search for a P3008 error.

good luck

not sure where it is on your A3. It would help to know what engine you have, I'm assuming its an oil burner (diesel)? Anywho, the cam position sensor should look kind of like a cup with a wire bundle coming out of it on the back of your engine (unless its a transverse mount, then it will be on the side opposite the belts). I really can't think of a proper way to describe it.

-the above information is based on a SWAG that I'm making about your car that I am totally unfamiliar with (at this point)
