Default Engine Cover Removal - NewB ?

Okay, so I'm not the master mechanic. I had no problem doing the general maintenance on my VW TDI, but I can't seem to figure out how the 2.0T engine cover comes off. I don't want to pull to hard on the grommets, and it looks like it takes a special tool to remove the cover? Please help.

Thanks,
Chef

on the a4's they just pull off, like the tabs that are on the interior, my 03 is like that, don't know the new engine but nobody else is helping you out. try to lift a corner and see if you can see a tab or clip. btw happy to have you on board for the socal gtg.

If I lift the edge of the cover up a little, I see a rubber grommet that has a bolt through attached to an angled metal piece on the engine, but there is no top access to remove the bolt. I did notice a grey scalloped disc which is set between the grommet and metal of the engine mount, that's why I suggested that maybe a special tool is needed to remove. There are hinges on the cover along the firewall side, so somehow the cover pops up from the front and is pulled out from the back. Removing the MAF, Turbo inlet pipe and Cold intake parts from the cover is easy, but that damn cover is a b****.

Thanks for any additional help.

it looks like a pull off unit I cant see any visible indents for screws unless they are under the silver bit, also I notice the air intake is part of the unit, as its a new car why not ask a mechanic at the dealership

I guess that I'll have to talk with a mechanic at the dealership. I just wanted to get a closer look at the engine and thought someone on this site might know. When I find the answer I'll post pics for future searchers.

Thanks,
Chef

btw, I did unhook half of the silver cover and it didn't show any holes underneath to reach the bolts.

No.

I guess they don't want me to screw with the engine?

I'll just have to drive it over to the REVO shop then and get it chipped. That'll show 'em!
