does anyone know what the purple socket that is located underneath the stereo-climate control dash area (at the back of the small storgage compartment infront of the gearstick) does? it is hidden by a lid that easily comes off. it looks stereo related by cant find anything on it in the manual. PLEASE help its driving me crazy.

It's the diagnostic connector for the onboard computer which lets you read error codes, etc.
