Default Good bye A3

Well, since my lease expires soon, I have been in the clutches of uncertainty and doubt on whether I should keep it, get an S-Line, or upgrade to a fully loaded A4. It is a great car, and I loved every minute with it.

Well, after careful examination of my finances, the decision was made easier for me yesterday. I am now officially on the waiting list for a very tasty, yummy... S5.

You going to modify that S5? I bought the A3 3.2 exactly a year ago now and have done just about everything I can to it minus the HPA turbo and I am now wishing I had gone with the S5 myself. I am used to v8 power and miss it. What options did you get and you mind telling me roughly what you paid total including tax? I think my A3 3.2 all in including mods now is pusing 46K! I imagine a new S5 is at least another 10k on top of that though right?

I could tell you what I paid for it, unfortunately it's not going to be relevant for you. Prices in Canada run considerably higher than what you guys south of the border pay.

As for modding - it's safe to say I won't be doing it. I went that way when I had the GTi, and it was all money down the drain in the end when I had to sell it. I keep telling myself that rather than modding the current car, I'm better off saving for the next model up.

I went for the navigation package, and the Atlas trim - aside from the Audi drive system, pretty much everything else comes standard.

Ok thanks and enjoy the car. I hear you on the points regarding modding and largely agree. The one exception of course is if you find a model and style you like but you want more performance. I coudl have for example bought the v8 s4 but it just wasn't the car I wanted. What I should have done is by the S5 but at the time it was a little more than what I wanted to spend.

Well, today dealership just called me... the wait is over. Finally going to pick up my new baby on Saturday.

I'm so stoked right now, that I can barely even concentrate at work.

Congrats! That's HOT!

My wife is starting to think the same way - the A3 may be sold one day for an A5. But we just did a 1200 mile road trip in the A3 this past weekend, and we were reminded of how perfect a highway car it is... cruising I-80 through OH & PA at 95 mph with two fingers on the wheel, with nothing but a mild exhaust groan and some wind noise to disturb the peace. Motoring bliss...

I can't speak for the A5, but the S is considerably quieter than the A3 at highway cruising speed.
