Default Got my Window Bashed and Molding Benst

Hey guys,

Last night my car was broken into, the theif shattered my back window, which was held together by tint, so it fell into the car and scratched up all of the leather, interior and vinyl.

As if this isnt enough, he first tried to pry with some sort of tool at the weatehr stripping on the outside of the car. It is made of rubber and METAL so he just ended up bending the stripping on both driver doors.

I had to have the window fixed ASAP becasue of the weekend and the fact that I live downtown. So I shelled out 400 dollars for a OEM window. However the isntaller was really bad and I am definately not satisfied with his work. Ill have to re-put together the door.

My question is:

Do you guys know where to get the outside weather stripping for the A3 driver's door and rear driver's door. its the arch that goes up and around in a trapazoidal shape around where the window seals itself.

Also, has anyone ever tried to replace the stainless steel trim peices in the a3, mines are all scratched up now. Price would help too.

Is there a online-discount parts source that I can go to?

Thanks

-Will

Jeez, I really hate to hear stories like these. I'm really sorry this happened.

My question is exactly like what avant80@2.6 asked: Can't you have insurance take care of this and have it professionally repaired?

Sorry to hear about your misfortunes. It's unfortunate that they broke in - what were they after? Did they go after something in the car? I've always thought the A3 was a low-key enough car that lowlifes would generally go after something flashier. Well, you mentioned that you lived downtown - which metropolitan area do you reside in? It makes me nervous hearing that scum are going after A3's.

I believe my comprehensive is at 1000 dollars deductible.

therefore, that means I would have to pay the first 1000 dollars, per incident.

unlessI am misunderstanding it.

ie: my Lexus windshield was cracked and the excess was £60/120$ and the fitter claimed it so no cost to me,

Lexus windshield cost £800/1600$ fitted

I have a friend who's car was broken into and their laptop taken from it (stupid to leave it in the car in the first place!)... The laptop replacement was covered under their homeowners insurance... Perhaps they can help??!?
