GTI suspension vs. A3 S-Line?
OK guys, after some searching, the only difference I can see between the GTI and A3 is exterior styling, upgraded interior, and about $5,000 similarly equipped. If the suspension is firmer in the GTI, I would want that.
If the pedestrian bumper safety standards require the GTI to have higher ground clearance, how much can that really affect handling?

A LOT. Why do you think sports cars sit so low to the ground? I've noticed a HUGE difference in the handling of my car with it lowered. Now, granted it also has stiffer springs, but the weight transfer and roll is a lot less.
Cheers!

Which is funner to drive?

they both prety much the same. but i notice that the gti has less body roll.
i might be wrong because of this reason
1. the spring on the gti is stiffer and the ride quality is a tiny harsher on the gti.
2. i have prety thin small body and the seat bostler on the gti fit better. (less sliding around)

This is a tough call for me. After owning a 330i with sport package, I sold it and bought an Infiniti M35X. I hate the M! The suspension is too soft. (Yes, I know, I should have figured this out prior to buying- live and learn.) So now, I am selling the M after 4 months and looking at both the GTI and the A3 with S-Line.
I drove both on different days- the GTI seemed firmer, but the A3 was not that soft. The steering was much different. At slow speeds, the steering is light on the A3 and firms up with speed. The GTI is firm all the time. The steering wheel of the GTI I like because it reminds me of the 330i. Engine performance was identical. Exhaust noise was louder on the GTI.
But without question I like the interior and exterior of the A3 better. I just don't want to discover 4 months later the A3 is too soft.
