Hey People

New to this forum and looking for some info. I am considering buying an a3 2.0 liter 06 onwards I know there is to verisions a 140hp & 170 hp.

My question is this. What is the actual mechanical/eletrical difference between the 2? and would it be possible (within reason) to upgrade the 140hp to the 170hp

Those numbers are for the TDI engines. 140 states 170 europe etc. only.
The 2.0T here is 200 for 06 - 08 and 208 for 09

Thanks for comment but both engine variables are available on both sides of the pond. Still would like to know the exact differences. Does anyone know?

Yeah 170 in Canada the only TDI we get is the 140 and there is no difference in the engine all it is is the computer system upping the boost a bit. Oh & I forgot they used the 170 versions in the new Clean Diesel Racing series of VW's

 

Sorry I can't be more specific...but I had a 2.0TDI 170...and you can tune that version to a higher output than the 140 version, so there, to my knowledge, there must be some minor differences. If the internals are all the same, why wouldn't tuners just tune the 140 up to the same numbers as the 170.

Having said that, a chipped 140TDI is still pretty fun in an A3.
