A bit of suspension tuning should help - set the toe, castor and camber up right. My A3 handles great! Some fit coilovers and adjustable shocks with Gas/oil. 18s seem too much on the A3 and 17's give a better ride. Tyre choice also has a bearing on the ride quality - Goodyear Eagle F1s are nice but are quite soft and wear quickly.
