I think you guys should move your GTG from Texas to London and show him something.

Jeremy Clarkson is a racist idiot who is funny on occasion, but always controversial. He has always given Audi S cars poor reviews for ride and handling, given his bad back and the poor road conditions in the U.K.
Jeremy Clarkson is my hero...but he attacked the wrong car. Someone chip that car for him and let him test it again. We'll see who's laughing last. He definately has his own opinion and taste in cars hough and a great way of making his opinion known. Top Gear is one of the best automotive tv shows ever made.
I try to read the English [car] press because I want to know what is going on in Europe since most of those cars will not make it to the US and if they make it they are limited in some sort. This guy seems like a little snob but that it may be the English accent….…
Anyway, lots of people would agree on the choice of engine for the S3, and go with a revised V6 but the V8 in the S3 is definitely overkill.
What you have to remember is that everything is very expensive in Europe, especially when it comes to cars. When in Europe they can buy the 2.0T Quattro, the US can afford a 3.2 Quattro here for the same price so pumping some more power in the 2.0T is definitely the way to go in order to get a real compact sport car. The thing I believe this car and the other get wrong is that the driving style of theV6 and a 4Turbo are definitely different. You will want to be a lot more aggressive and high rev to get the S3 rather than a duller, more rounded, V6 which is a more layback approach. I am not saying the 3.2 people are old people with strollers and pushovers, I am not saying that, but it is just a different approach and a different driving style.
The problem I see with Audi’s logic is that with the introduction of the A1, you are going to have an S1 with a pumped 4cylinder turbo (1.8T if I recall correctly) and the S3 will need to move to the V6 area in order to keep some sort of system S1 = 4 cylinders, S3 = 6 cylinders, S4 = 8 cylinders, S6 = 10 cylinders and they need a S8 with 12 cylinders. Does that make more sense and has more logic to it?

Guys,
There are 2 issues here:
1.which is Jeremy's urge to remain controversial. He must as he is a motoring journalist. Enough said.
2. As mentioned above, the 2 cars are about differerent driving styles and preferences. The S3 is the younger more nimble drive it hard, chuck it around type of car and it is excellent in that respect. It is not intended as a high speed cruising car. The V6 on the other hand has a big engine which delivers comprable performance, but the car is designed for a different purpose. As James May said about the Aston Martin V8, there are 2 ways to knock in a nail, one is to use a small hammer and hit it very hard, the second is to use a large hammer and hit it gently. The V6 is a big hammer and is designed to appeal to those people who want the powerful car but do not want to have to push it/drive it hard to get the performance. The S3 is aimed at the driver who wants to work with the car closer to the edge and work the car. The V6 is about smooth effortless power delivery and appeals to a different type of driver. Not better, not worse, not younger or older just different! It is like the difference between lager and real ale, both beer both good just different. They appeal to a different audience.
You have the car you have and you bought it for the reasons which were right for you! Be happy in that thought and the knowedge that it is the right car for you
