Min Oil Light??!?!
This past Saturday, I was on the interstate on my way to a golf match when the "min oil " light came on. I drove about another ten miles before I could get oil and was lucky I found a station that carried the VW 502 0 0 spec required. I also had to put in two quarts. As I read the manual I get the impression that if the warning light is yellow you have some time (not a lot) to get the oil level up. If it is red, stop immediately.
The Mobil 1 isn't cheap, especially at a station off an interstate. I have since tried to find the correct spec synthetic at a couple of locations but without any luck. Mobil 1 and a lot of oil companies carry a lot of similarsynthetic oil types. Just be sure you get the correct spec or you could have trouble.
BTW, I went about 7500 miles since last change. I'll be checking a lot more frequently now.
Good luck.

I guess not many of you guys read owner's manuals.
There's a section in it specifically addressing the oil issue, with the recommendation to carry extra VW 502 with you when there is the slight chance you will find yourself nowhere close to a shop that sells it.
Some more reading, since some of you missed it: https://www.audiforums.com/m_7326/mpage_2/key_/tm.htm

Very nice cuski, and hesaputz good find on the oil info. I just remember growing up when my family moved to the U.S.A. back in 81 we did not start of with a new car, so my dad would have to check the oil weekly, radiator fluid everyday so she wouldn't overheat. The two cars we owned were a cutlass supreme, and a vega i forgot who made the vega that thing was ugly as ****.(morale of the story) Check your fluids weekly.
