MPG on A3 s line

RE: MPG on A3 s line
Are you in the UK? Isn't there a variance between Imperial gallons and US gallons?
On the highway, the best I've seen was 31 mpg (US) and that was doing 65-70 on cruise control, A/C on, windows up. Just this weekend I got 30 mpg going between 80-85, no A/C, windows up (plus it was about 60 deg. F outside). Normally I drive a bit more aggressive and get about 27.5-28 MPG on the highway. In the city I usually get about 26 mpg, but I've seen as low as 24 mpg and up to nearly 28 mpg depending on how I'm driving. I rarely use the A/C and ride with the windows down most all the time.
One thing to keep in mind, if you are still in the break-in period, you should expect to see poor economy. My fuel economy steadily increased until about 3k miles and then leveled off.

At 65 mph, in the country on a long stretch of secondary road (prolly 15 miles with no traffic, no stops) at 55F, and cruise on, no a/c, sunroof vented, I saw 33.7 mpg without any variance. Obviously the road was without major hills or curves. This was this past Sunday around 11:00a.
The 2.0T with DSG (my driveline), though I have S-line too, is very sensitive to driving style. Driven like Miss Daisy, and the mpg is pretty good. Drive like a hoodlum on meth, and the mpg dives big-time.

RE: MPG on A3 s line
ah....motorway...makes sense now. i used to get average of 25. id bounce around from 23 to 28 depending on how long im driving for. I agree with BAMF as I have hit 31.8 at about 80, but it took a good amount of time to climb up to that. Anyone know how reliable that gauge is anyway??? I just got nuespeed chip today and am worried as I BLEW through over a quarter tank in about 50 miles!

I don't pay as much attention to the fuel gauge as I do to the trip computer. I reset the avg mpg at each fill-up and compare the trip computer's avg mpg to actual mpg by calculating it myself. I have found to it be very accurate - usually within 0.1 or 0.2 mpg. I prefer watching the 'miles to empty' readout over the fuel gauge itself, especially if I am in an unfamiliar area. It gives me a better idea of how long I have to find a gas station.
