New A3 owner, on accident.
[hr]
So I graduated from college and got a real adult job, and I was looking into a new car, it was between the VOLVO C30 and the mazdaspeed 3 (my sister works for ford). I wanted to check out the VW tiguan as a third choice, blah blah went to teh VW dealership, blah blah accidentally drove an A3, blah blah bought it.
I don't know if its a 2008 or 2008.5 (don't know the difference either) but its an 08 s-line with DSG, heated seats, open-sky, and ippod dock (which I don't have problems with). There was a $2k rebate and I got some more off because I didn't need the options and it was on the lot, spent just under 29k in the end (USD).
My favorite thing about it is how it (visually) reminds me of my old white civic hatch (that ran a 12.8 NA 1/4 mile), and it just feels soooo refined. I vow not to modify it (i've played that game with the civic and a few sportbikes, and this thing will never be "really" fast, so I don't care).
Here are some pics of it out front, and with the Rover (which I don't really want to sell, but don't know what to do with anymore).

RE: New A3 owner, on accident.
I have a 08.5 based upon what you just said with the aux out. What else comes with the 08.5 vs the o8? I think the speedo and gauges are in white vs the classic red correct? Just wondering if anyone knows what else is different?

Congrats!
...and creepy at the same time b/c I also just purchased a 2008.5 Ibis White S-line A3 very similar to yours on accident as my first car out of college. I was looking at WRX and Mazdaspeed 3. I went to browse the Audi's b/c someone at work suggested it. From the moment I drove it, could never let the A3 go no matter how much I tried to talk myself out of buying a German car based solely on family stereotypes (I have grown up with only Hondas and Toyotas) and price for a premium brand.
I'm not sure of all the changes between 2008 & 2008.5. I do know that 2008.5 also has a different engine cover and a timing chain instead of belt.

Fate intervened, and directed you boys to the right car; the A3 stands head and shoulders above others in the fun, small and efficient car world. I like it so much that I have 2 of them ( one is daughter's), and after 2 years I still grin when I see my S Line sitting in the driveway; what a handsome, well-built and well-designed car it is. The perfect urban assualt vehiclle.
