New A3 Owner :D
I posted this same thread over on Fourtitude but I figured I would post it here as well since I do a lot of lurking on here looking up great infos!
Just picked up my A3 a week a go.
2008 A3 S-line 2.0T
posting pics because I know you guys have not seen enough stock A3's.

My last car was an 05 C230

and before that I rocked the oooohh so slow 03 Jetta 2.0!

I have to say the A3 feels a hell of a lot better then the 230 in both pick up and handling. However, I feel the 230 stops better.
As far as plans for the A3 I'm about 30 min for Pure Motor sports so once I hit that 1k mile mark for break in period I'm heading over to get chipped
after that I want to lower the car. For sport suspension 3.5 fingers tall in the wheel wells! jebus.
I have a few questions though:
1) I don think I'll get coilovers I was thinking cup kit. Any one have any recommendations? I would just like to close the wheel gap and have a similar to stock ride not to stiff or bouncy. I had H & R on the Jetta and it felt good.
2) My car did not come with the convenience package. Is there any way to get the "auto" feature retro fitted. Yes I know I'm one lazy bastard but I'm so used to it from the 230.
3) Is there any way to retro fit the A6 (or similar my father has an A6 those are the only ones I'v seen) side views with puddle lamps :P those are so hot.
4) Is there a site with a part number look up? I would like to get the part numbers to the S-line bumper markers and US black plate filler(can the dealer even get the plate filler?). I called my dealer and they told me to call back on wednesday
5) Lastly can anyone recommend a good tint shop in socal? The one I was recommend to wants $350 that seems high. The place that did my 230 and jetta were like $225 if I remember correct but they don't seem to be in business anymore.
Thanks for any help.

Hello and welcome! Nice looking car -- titanium package?
What's the auto feature you're talking about in the convenience package? Auto headlights / wipers / something else? There are a lot of things you can do with Vag-Com.
Never seen anyone attempt to retrofit the puddle lights, but there are quite a few cool little projects at http://www.audidiy.com/a3.html including footwell lighting.
There is no general part number look up site for Audi that I've found. I've got a handful of bookmarked sites with OEM parts, alas I am on vacation (posting from the laptop) and all of my bookmarks are on my desktop at home. If no one has any suggestions, I'll get back to you with some sites on Jan 1st. The dealer can definitely order the front filler piece w/out the license plate bracket. I'm not sure what S-Line bumper markers you are talking about. If you're looking for the smoked lenses, they are aftermarket only and no one makes them for the S-Line bumper yet.
I can't comment on the suspension as I'm still riding on stock. Likewise, I can't suggest a good tint shop in SoCal as I'm in Florida. I posted a thread about a month ago quizzing people on what they paid for their tint -- $350 definitely sounds high.

Thanks for the info.
Yea my car has the Titanium Package.
The auto thing is for the head lights so they come on automatically when it gets dark out, as well, turn the fog lights on at night when you unlock your car with the key fob; Made finding my car real easy in the parking lot at night. I would assume I would need to install the light sensor for this to work, but I don't know if this is to difficult, costly, or even possible.
Yea I've seen the footwell lighting but I was looking for something to light up the ground around the door. I'll have to take a pic of the little light on the S6 mirrors. Works well puts a nice spot light right out side the door so you don't step in a puddle before entering the car. I've never had a car with it, but I think it would be an awesome thing to have.
As for the side markers yea I'm not looking for smoked ones, I want to get a second set so I can paint them to match my car. On my 230 I just got the Euro rub strips to remove them. I'm to cheap to have a body shop fill them in.
Yea I thought the price for tint was high. I talked to my neighbor about it and he paid $400 :O but the dude came to his home.

Welcome!
Look at the NooB link at the top of the forum for discussion on the cup kits and coilovers. A look at recent posts has good discussion on that as well.
Not sure about the other questions, as I haven't heard of anybody doing what you're suggesting.
However, I know of a great tint shop in the South Bay area, and others (in recent posts) have discussed some in OC, and east LA county. Let me know where you're located and we can help.
Cheers!

I think the automatic headlights can be enabled with Vag-Com. The light sensor should be installed already; my 2007 base model has the light sensor, Audi just disables the related options in the computer. I think I've seen the coding needed to enable them, but again I can't find it at the moment. I'll look in my bookmarks when I get home and let you know.
P.S. Almost forgot, you will also need a new headlight switch with the 'Auto' function.

Have you asked your dealer about the tint? They did mine for $250 and it has a lifetime warranty. The only problem I can foresee is that they will only tint within the limits of the law.(I think in CA it's still any darkness on the rear and back side windows, and only a little tint, I think 70%, on the front sides.)
So if you're into stealth probably want to look elsewhere.

Thanks for the replys.
I'm located in Riverside, CA. The dealer is the one who recommended this tint shop.
In regards to the auto lights, if its just a switch and a CPU thing that would be great. Switch is all of $75.
Chef, that noob thread is great. I've been reading a lot from it. I think I need to see some rides with a cup kit and coilovers to make my decision. Does anyone know if they still do the Riverside Starbucks GTG? I went to a few when I had my jetta, but that was like 3 years ago.
