Default New to the Audi world- bulb question

Hi everyone. I am a new Audi owner of a 2011 A3 TDI.

I have a license plate light that has been going on and off since I got the car. Currently it has been off for about a week so I am thinking the bulb blew.

First I cant find the specs to replace the bulb, I looked in the manual as well as online. Any ideas?

Also, if I can buy a replacement how hard is it to actually replace the bulb? I am a girl who is not terribly mechanically inclined but I was always able to replace bulbs myself on my Explorer so if it isnt too complicated I can probably do it.

Or should I just take it to the dealer and get charged a silly fee for a bulb?

Thanks for the help in advance

This site has all the auto bulbs listed;

Lamp Replacement Guide Home

The bulb # is 6418.

There should be two Philips screws holding the bulb cover over the license plate.

The bulb and connector may need cleaning.

This is a picture of the bulb.

Good luck.

You could check the bulb with an ohm meter. If good, clean the ends and the holding clips.
