Oil Useage on A3
Hello All !
Has anyone had issues with their A3 (or any other 2.0T) vehicle using oil?
The car is only at 17,000 miles and is using 1/4-1/3 Qt. of oil per 1,000 miles.
I'm getting a "variety" of stories from the dealer (Niello Audi, Sacramento) stating
that it's normal. a.) "1 qt. per 1,000 miles is within standards" b.) "should not use more than 1 qt. in 1,000 mi."
c.) "800-1,200 miles per qt. would be considered normal" d.) 1 qt. in 600 miles is acceptable standards."
Which one is correct (if any?) I have told the dealer repeatedly that I would be happy if they could
just supply the official technical specification from Audi ... done deal. Sounds reasonable. But they keep side stepping and
blaming it on anything from "short trips", "cheap gas", and "not letting the catalytic convert warm-up"?
There is also a heavy deposit of black soot in the tail pipes that can be scraped off and piled up on a paper towel.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. -- Thanks !!!
