Default Pros/cons of 2007 a3

I currently have a 2002 Audi A4 Quattro 3.0 6 speed with sport package and I also want an automatic so I'm looking at getting a 2007 Audi A3 and was wondering some pros/cons is the dual clutch transmission any good? Is the paddle shifters laggy?

Not sure about the paddle shifters (if you can even get them on the A3) but if you get front wheel drive - I would recommend to stay away. CVT transmissions on Audi/VW are very unreliable. As long as they work they are great, very responsive and fun - but when they go (not if but when!) it will be expensive.

If you go for the "Quattro" model you will receive a better transmission but you end up with a fake Quattro system as the A3 gets a Swedish Haldex system instead of the one that is from Quattro GmbH. This is an electronic version and breaks more easily than the good old mechanical version but still better than using CVT.

Don't get me wrong I like the A3 (older non sedan version) but I'm very disappointed in the drivetrain options. For example in the US you cannot get a stick with "Quattro", only automatic comes with Quattro (or Haldex system). Since I didn't like the electronic version much and I wouldn't trust CVT - I ended up with a manual 6 speed 2.0t FWD.

I have a 2007 Audi A3 with the paddle shifters. I am not experienced with using them but when my boyfriend drives it, he uses them. Says they work just fine. No issues so far regarding the paddle shifters on the wheel or even when using the gear shift option by hand by the seat. Not sure if this helps or not. I do have issues with the coolant light coming on in cold weather, as well as the oil min. light coming on every few months or so.
