rear view compass
I considered the Bell compass, but I think I'd pay to not have that apparatus sticking out like a sore thumb in my otherwise streamlined interior. Moreso, I just do not like the idea of having to replace batteries.
I e-mailed the local dealership asking about swapping mirrors....will hopefully hear something back soon.

If they are cooperative do you think you could ask them for the part number too? My dealer tends not to answer email unless it directly involves them taking posession of my money. [:@]

So far, it looks like the stealership parts department is holding out on me too, even though my last email to them closed with "I'd like to go ahead and order if available".
Just resent the same note and appended with "I'll assume if I don't hear back I can just let (another Audi dealer) go ahead and handle it as they have offered".

Four emails to the parts department directly and thru their website, and I finally got a call back from the service manager. I wasn't home to take the call, but the message is that they've asked parts support to determine if the mirror upgrades are possible and they'd call me back within the week. If they are possible, I'll ask for the part #s.
There should be some sort of online parts catalog, where one could at least look up part numbers. Who do I write to about that?
Is there something like RealOEM.com for VAG cars?
Many BMW owners know about RealOEM.com, a fabulous resource for that brand that considers actual build year (not just model designation). The diagrams used on that site are identical to the microfiche pictures used at the dealers. Parts guys at the dealer love it when you come in with real part numbers from RealOEM.
