Default REVO Stage 2 or SPS3?

Hello,

Sorry for the dumb question, but do I need to buy stage 2 software from REVO if I already have stage 1, or can I buy a SPS3 and make the adjustments myself? The shop made it sound like there wasn't additional software and that they were just going to change the boost and timing settings with a laptop. I wanted the SPS3 anyway, so I was wondering if I could just get the software up to stage 2 myself with just buying and using the SPS3.

Thanks in advance!

Pretty sure Stage 2 requires new parts, and not just software.

Yup, parts required:

"Revo Stage 2 software has been specifically developed to attain the best possible performance from cars with more extensive bolt on performance modifications. The Revo Stage 2 software is tuned on vehicle applications using a 4 bar fuel pressure regulator, a quality aftermarket performance exhaust system and a good air intake induction system. Furthermore, our Stage 2 software can be used with a de-cat exhaust for race or track use. The tuning style is more aggressive than the basic Revo performance software, and will typically yield 10-15% more useable power."

And from one of the VW forums:

"...running Neuspeed P-Flow Intake, AWE 2.5 inch TBE with the 200 cell metal cat, Neuspeed Pulley, and REVO Stage 2 ECU flash. Car runs at about 21 lbs of Boost. 70 degree day in New England on Swift Motorsport's Dyno. 240 hp @ 4400 RPM and 302 ft/lbs @ 3100 RPM..."

Those are to the ground numbers. Add another 10-15% (30ish or so HP) for the gross HP =~275. With 21lbs of boost I hope he has a wheelbarrow with him to haul the pieces home when it grenades.

I wonder if he has wheelspin problems?

Yes you need to have a HFC or test pipe and exhaust. The stage 2 REVO really brings out the performance in the downpipe. I just installed a Stasis Exhaust and 034 Motorsport HFC then bumped up to Stage 2. Awesome sounds and a nice solid low drone. Its psi goes up and you really get a lot more out of the car.

However, right now im having a little trouble. my car was balking and it seemed like there was something up the the plugs, so i changed those out to new Bosch stock ones (which is what seems to be recommended). It cleared it up a bit but not fully. I think my main problem is that i have a custom intake. I'm gonna pull that out and swap it back to stock to see if it run smoother.

Any suggestions for a solution guys?
