Default Rolling car

Hey Everyone. I just recently bought a 07 A3 about a month ago, and I love it!! Only thing is that it seems to roll forwards and backwards a lot when I take my foot off the break depending on if I’m facing up hill or down hill. Reminds me of driving a clutch but I have a 2.0T automatic and I’m always afraid I’m going to hit someone (well roll into someone) because of that. I don’t know a lot about cars but my old IS never did that. I was just wondering if that’s normal for this car or if it is something I should worry about.

Thanks
Shannon

That's probably just the DSG.Does it happen when you park, then take your foot off the brake. If it does, that's totally normal. Congratulations!!!

You should have hill assist that should help you out. Not sure if its auto engaged or whatnot, read the manual and find out

Yeah, my car has hill assist. Not sure if this is just a feature of the 3.2, but when I am stopped on a hill for more than a second, the hill assist engages so that when I release the brake, the car does not roll backwards. A great feature here in San Francisco!

I don't know, if I had DSG, I'd learn to do some left foot braking, like the F1 boys do.[8D]

Engage your hill assisit by removing your foot from the brake when stopped, then quickly tapping it again. It only engages if the car is at or beyond a certain vertical angle.
