Default Service intervals

Hey,

Anyone here, purchased a 2006 A3 2.0 DSG in Canada? I recently put my car in for it's first service at 8,000 kms and noticed when I got the car back the dealership has marked the next service in another 8,000 kms (Total 16,000). According to the actual service book it should be after another 17,000 (Total 25,000).

Thanks!

That's correct. Service intervals are every 16,000kms. Most of the people here will recommend that you do at least an oilchange between intervals, say after 8000kms.

Mine did the same thing. Went in for my 5k (miles) service and the service indicator says that I am due again at 10k (at just over 9k right now). I will go ahead and take my car up there to have them reset it, and do the ECU flash (if they will do that). I will also go ahead and find out how much they will charge to change the oil since it is between covered service intervals.

Can anybody show me any objective tests showing better performance/mileage/engine life from 5K oil changes versus 10K/Annual oil changes using Mobil 1 or another full syntetic?

Amsoil peddlers need not apply.

...and while we're on the subject...

I've mentioned it before but I can't believe you guys don't get the variable servicing over there. Whether you agree with it or not you should have the option surely? And an oil change at 5k is unbelievable.
