Default SKY VIEW SHADE

OK! I know all of you out there have probably already have had this problem or hate how thin the Sky View Shade is. Well, I'm know going on the third time I have had to have them replace the slides. They are always breaking. I'm not abusive with it either. I don't open & close it daily maybe once a week if that. Just wondering who else is having this problem? Oh and I'm only at 11K and it happened at 10K and I just haven't had time to set up a day that they have it for the 4hrs the book says it takes to fix it. That's sad to fix an Item in your car ever 3K miles.

Yea, mine broke at about 13k miles. They really are cheap... it's probably the ONLY cheap part on the whole A3.

Don't get upset though, the A3 is a wonderfully built car. It's just those damn open sky shades!

My wife and I are constantly opening the shade and the sky view on our 06. Approaching 30K miles with no issues - front or rear shade. This does seem to be a major finish complaint - along with button paint bubbling and peeling.

Any idea how much they are? Just curious in case it happens after the waranty is out.

are you talking about the bottom trim along the side under the doors? that's there on purpose for rock chip protection.

i'm at a tad under 50k and haven't had any latch/shade issues at all.....guess i'm the lucky one.

i just need someone to come out with a completely opaque one. the stock one doesn't do a thing during the summers.
