I live intheSan Francisco Bay area,I have a new '08 A3, 3.2 Quattro that came with summer tires. I head to the Lake Tahoe area about once a month. Although I don't have to deal with snow in the bay area,heavy snow on the way to Tahoe often causes the highway patrol to imposerestrictions that require MSS tires or snow chains. I am wondering what would be a reasonably goodtire purchase for me? I am thinking about good all season tires. Consumer reports says that Continental ContiExtreme Contact tires are a decent choice. Any suggestions from other Nor Cal locals?

Not a Nor Cal local, but am no stranger to snow, as I drive up to VT during the winter to ski. I have ContiPro Contact Continentals, and I have been very pleased with their performance in the snow. Good set of tires + Quattro = happy customers
