That's a serious question for a newbie. The simple answer is yes. But, it won't do anything for a performance gain because the air, fueling, and boost will be the same as stock, which is controlled by the ECU. There are a LOT of factors to consider when upgrading the turbo. Why would you spend $4k+ dollars on a turbo and not do the entire upgrade?

Silly nOObs

Cheers!

I don't plan on doing a BT upgrade (hell, I'm still resisting getting chipped) but have been wondering lately if it would be possible to convert over to a twin turbo setup? I know a lot of the 350z guys (NA engine) have gone with twins.

At this point, I don't think anyone manufactures twin turbos for our A3's.

Unless you want to drop serious money and custom modify (if it's even possible) ....

But if you twin-turbo the A3, you will be THE MAN.

Wow! Turbo's people. First if your engine has an inline set up it is considered twin turbo's if it is a V engine its bi-turbo's as was the 2.7T audi has.

I always thought twin turbo = two identical turbos and bi turbo = two turbos, but not necessarily identical (i.e. a small one to spool quickly and a large one to continue boosting at higher RPMs).

What does the 2.7 use? It's two KO3s in the S4 and two KO4s in the RS4, right? (B5 gen) If that's right, it doesn't necessarily support my previous thought, but it doesn't invalidate it either.

HPA has it, just not for the 2.0T. 565HP... A price tag that will probably come close to doubling the cost of the car.

The don't have the twin turbo listed with the A3 on their site. But it's basically the same as the R32 (MarkV)/TT (II).

Bi turbo was the S4 two identical turbos on each bank of cylinders. Twin turbos is a smaller turbo powering a bigger one for more power. Yes the S4 had KO3 and the RS4 which we(states) didn't get is the KO4 the KO3 tends to be the turbo of choice for Audi because of its reliability.
