VF Engineering Mount Thoughts

VF Engineering Mount Thoughts
I've heard both from various forums and from Chef that wheel hop will be eliminated with this mount. Nevertheless, the $200 price tag kept me away from this nice piece of metal and poly combo. So off I went to suffer for another month of babied launches and doing pulls from the beginning of 2nd gear. Well, today I decided I had enough. I haven't modded for almost 3+ months apart from maintenance (Bad plugs and Bad DV vavle) and I got a payout for my unused vacation time after quitting my job.
So off I go the VF Engineering to pick it up. As I left with the new toy the sales guy said happily "This mount is going to make a big difference." I quickly knodded and said hope so. For some reason I'm usually skeptical but I'll know soon enough. On the way home I immediatly open to box and inspect the contents and read the instructions while driving with my knee in between city and freeway driving. Luckily I get home safely and immdeiatly go to work. I jacked the car up and placed some jackstands and dove in. Both removal and installation of the mount was almost effortless with the exception of the Poly Insert. I got it in halfway with my arms and bit more with a rubber mallet. I decided to use the jack with the big washer to get the rest in. After that I torqued all the bolts to spec and went for a drive.
When driving around I noticed virtually nothing... which was good! Under normal driving I can't feel the DSG shift gears and only notice the audible DSG signature fart. I proceed to drive around normally a bit more and said to myself "For this I'm willing to pay $60 for." Being done, I decide to put it in "S" for the second round of testing. Unfortuantly, I really didn't notice anything different here. Shifting felt a bit more refined but it was hard to notice. Possibly it was a 10-15% improvment over stock. Here I said to myself "For this, I'm willing to pay $-10." Being at what I felt was a $50 product I was dissapointed. Dissapointed to such a level that I was hesistant to even try launchign my car with the new mount. Launching my car after getting stage II sucks period. It basically feels like going over a series of speedbumps at 25mph. BAMBAMBAMBAM!!!! It literally jolts and bounces the car so bad that I quit launching period. Nevertheless, the show must go one.
I come to a light and notice a "You're speed is: XX." booth thing about 75 yards away. Being only two digits I wondered if I go 100mph if it woudl show 00mph. So off I go. Stomp on the gas, Rev goes to 3000rpm and clutch engages aaannndddd... theres still wheel hop... but almost a 90% reduction of it! Now it feels like I'm going over 0 gauage wires at 25mph. Still at full throttle I let the tranny go through 2nd and 3rd peeling awaywith very minimal hop. Happy over the success, I was quickly dissapointed that I could only get the speed booth to read 70mph. Oh well, can't have everything. After a few more tests I finally felt it was worth the $200 spent.
Interestingly enough, I didn't fell any added annoyances with the mount. No added cabin noise or weird vibrations were felt. Also, there are 2 additional mounts from VF available where one is a tranny mount. I'm not too sure if its worth forking another $200 over, but with the amount of imrpovements this mount has given me, I'm very curious how the other two will feel.

RE: VF Engineering Mount Thoughts
A3Night, I'm glad that mount worked good for you. I'm hesitant on the full Engine and Tranny VF mounts because I didn't like the feedback I felt in David's GTI, but it was a WHOLE lot better than the MKIV Vdubs. I just want to have the smooth classy feel that my Audi should have, even if the exhaust note is a little more pronounced.
Cheers!
Cheers!
