In much of the same way, I'm in the same situation of if I should wait for an 07 or not. I want to wait for the S3 because I want the AWD instead of the current FWD on the 2.0T. Do anyone have any info on if the US will even get the S3 with AWD and what kind of price it'd be around.

I've done a lot of shopping lately because my lease on the 330i is up in September. I think if the S3 is reasonably price and has what I'm looking for, then I'm done searching!

oh, first post here, hope to learn lots from everyone. Thanks!

don't needa wait
the s3 isn't coming anytime soon
the 07' a3 details are out
they're calling the sport package the S-line package with the badges and stuff and trip computer and homelink added
along there is another package: the premium

and the s-line quattro 3.2
i personally tried the 3.2 but i just don't feel it without the turbo

so you pick your choice
i would stick with the 330i if i were you @@
i personally would LOVE to have one

the 330i is a great car, but I want something a bit different. I would love a M3, but can't afford it. Gonna make some changes in my life this coming year so I started looking for the next best thing. Hopefully this A3 will be it. I only wish the A3 2.0T had AWD. That's the only thing holding me back!

so I think if the 07s are not going to come out w/ anything special, I'm just going to wait a bit and then spring for a 06 and try and get a good deal on one. We'll have to see!

I understand where you're at in the decision making process. My dad has a 330ci and it's a very nice car. I absolutely love my A3 and I think it is totally comparable to his BMW. I only wish as well that I had Quattro too. With just a chip on these cars they become little rockets and it would be nice to put the power down over more wheels. Cornering would be much improved as well. With that being said, I still love my car and would purchase it again. I wouldn't buy the S-line with the 3.2 just to get the Q though. The 2.0T engine is the sweetheart of this car! My car feels, and probably is, faster than my dad's and the interior is much nicer. His probably corners better, but the feel of both cars are solid and predictable. The big difference is that I spent a small fortune less than he did. Who's smarter now?

Cheers!

Speaking of power loss in an AWD A3, were I to want RWD instead of FWD, would anyone know where I can find an aftermarket shop that would do a conversion? Would it be more economical to get the 2.0 or 3.2 and do the conversion? And any idea of the price? Thanks.

Not worth it. Might as well buy a 3-series BMW if RWD is a must. The rear diff won't be able to handle all of the power. You'll need to make some serious modifications to make that work.

They tried to do that on a Quattro in the move "The Fast and the Furious" and they kept blowing out the rear end. Do a little google search and you should be able to come up with an article.
