Wheel weight

Wheel weight
I'm replacing my 17" S-Line wheels and tires with 18" RS4 replicas. The 18" wheels are about 26 lbs. each. Which is a bit on the heavy side. But I have a feeling the 16 spoke factory wheels are not very light either. Anyone know the weight of the 17" stock or S-Line wheels?
I'll probably be selling the stockers down the road once I'm satisfied with the 18s.

According to this thread on another forum, they are either 27 lbs or around 25 lbs.
Even though you are switching to a wheel with similar weight, your acceleration and deceleration are still affected as going to a larger wheel "shifts" more mass towards the perimeter of your wheel, which affects rotational inertia.

My scale says 24.5 lbs for stock 17s. You won't notice a couple pounds difference in wheel weight. You may notice 5lbs, though. So watch the tire weights in combo with the wheels: Conti SC2s are 22lbs in a 225/40-18 and Bridgestome RE-01Rs are 26lbs. The BStones are autocross tires, and have very stiff sidewalls to make themhandle better, The Contis are UHP Summer tires.
Most RS4s for A3s are 45mm offset. You may rub if you are lowered to more than 25.25" to the center of the fender well. If you have coilovers 25.25 front and 25.5" rear work well. You still will have to pull the fender liner screws, though.
Always love the look, though. RS-4s + A3 = Sweet.

RE: Wheel weight
I'm going with 225/40-18 Yokohama Neovas. They are about .5 lbs less than the 225/45-17 Pirelli P-Zero Rossos. And the wheels are about the same as the stockers. So the gross weight will be about the same. But a3_yuppie brings up a very valid point about the shift in the mass to farther out on the wheel. May need to upgrade the brake lines and pads.
I'm sticking with the stock S-Line ride height so the wider wheels and offset should not be a problem.
