i know its really stupid but im just wonderin where my intercooler is, b/c in my old gti it was in the left fender and was wonderin if it is in the same place and if so can get more cold air to it by cutting my fog light cover its just like a plastic bit that has nothing to do with the housing of the fog lights ??

 

i dont want a technical answer just if its on the left,right or in the center

 

do you know how many engines sizes fit that thing? give information regarding to your car ie: 1.8- 2.0- 3.6

On the U.S. 2.0T it should be in the center, directly in front of the radiator. See this pic on APR's site, their intercooler sits in the stock location:

Yep, although there are some aftermarket intakes that extend all the way down behind the driver's side of the bumper and you can cut/remove the plastic around the foglight to allow more air intake (see the Neuspeed intake w/ extension). There are also quite a few aftermarket intercoolers on the market now; some are like the APR intercooler (replaces stock) and some, such as Forge's, mount in the lower front of the grill and supplement the stock intercooler (plus they look cooler! )

 

yep i know i want one so bad but being a student money is pretty dear. so i thought that i could get a bit by doing a simple diy
