whine / feedback through stereo - searched but no posts covering this
hi all
my a3 2000 1.8tsq has developed an annoying habit that was intermittant at first but getting worse. the stereo has a whining feedback noise through speakers corresponding with RPM at the time, obviously only with the engine running.
i am assuming this is some sort of dodgy earth or wiring, but the thing is i havent touched or changed a single thing in the car at all, let alone stereo or wiring. everything else seems to be ok, just this.
should probably mention that it often seems to kick in after a bad bump or pothole, which lends itself more to the loose connection idea, but any pointers where to look?
thanks in advance
dan

i know you said you haven't changed anything in the car...maybe someone that you bought it from did? That noise is often from running wiring too close to the engine for an amp or even your head unit. (power). So if you have a stock stereo system, then ignore my comment, but if it is aftermarket, you'll need to just move where the power is running from your head unit (or amp(s)) to the battery (run it another route).

could be you have a lose suppressor on the alternator if its changing with the RPM or as you say a bad ground ( look round the VSS area ) check the wiring isn't worn
