Default winter tires

hi, i live in Quebec and own a A3 3.2 Quattro with 225-45-18 tires.

I want to buy new rims and winter tires for the winter, beside moving to Florida, what do you recommend that i buy.

Thanks

Christian

Somebody else was asking about something similar the other day. Not sure if it was determined that 16" (5-112 lug pattern) will fit or not (haven't checked out the thread in several days), but 17" definitely will. Find some stealies and a good quality "winter tire", not an "all season". Blizzak's see to be the best known. A friend uses them on his 350z and they seem to work pretty well.

The smaller/skinnier you can go, the better.

One other thing to consider, make sure that if you go with a smaller wheel, you go with a tire with a taller sidewall to keep the rolling diameter the same....I think Chef mentioned that tirerack.com had some kind of calculator.

Get the REAL winter tires. I've had Blizzaks and been very happy with them. (On an Acura Type-R for the winter)

Some winter tires are only siped, which helps, but not the total solution. You want tires with a winter compound that stays sticky in cold cold conditions. Also, get some winter wheels.of smaller rims. The tires are tremendously expensive at stock sizes for the Audi, and it would probably be even cheaper to buy the rims and tires for winter than to try and get a tire that fits your stock rims.

I plan on getting the Audi 16" winter wheels and some Blizzaks this winter.

Hi there!!! I'm from quebec too (sherbrooke)!!! and I have 17 inches wheels for sale

man..what a coincidence!!!I have a set of 17 inches mag wheel with blizzack tires on them, i dont remember the size at this very moment.Wheels are in very good condition and tires are probably good for another winter (probly more since you have a quattro). I had them on my previous g35, Idont know yetifthe wheelwould fit on the a3 but i'm pretty sure the tire would (summer front wheel was 225/45 r18 ). I dont want them on the a3 becauseI ride on 17 inches and I want to go 16"

I want 16" because i'm cheap....

--> btw..I could check if the wheel fit on mine...bolt pattern + offset
