I have a 1997 Audi a4 Quattro v6

Car was running perfect except.

I read the how to on ingnition switch replacement here, disconnected my negative battery terminal etc...removed the steering wheel etc, airbag, fixed the ignition, now the dang "Check Engine" & "Air Bag" Lights are on, WTF?, I know I hooked them up correctly.

Dealer wants $125 to reset my Computer, I don't have a scanner, or VAG, can someone please help me????

BTW great forum

to reset the computer i think you just have to dissconnect the battery for a little bit and reconnect..maybe you mixed some wires up? may want to check again if it doesnt work after you take the battery off

Im not positive, but Im pretty sure all that needs to be done is to have codes cleared. I think you should have disconnected both terminals on the battery to keep from getting the airbag code stored when you disconnected it.
Use this: http://www.steve-hall.com/cgi-bin/VAG-Locator.plto find someone with vag com to help you clear the ecu. I dont think autozone'sscanners can access thecontroller you need to get into to clear it. I dont think disconnecting the battery for 10 mins would help, but you could try that too.

Pay the dealer $125 to look at it, clear the codes, or spend $99 on a vag com cable/software?

Which to choose, which to choose............................

Umm, my buddy with a 97 A4 just had his ignition switched replace by Audi free of charge -- it was recalled.

You could use an Audi code reader to clear the codes.
