*Codes P0087 and P2293*

my dad got codes P000A, P0087, and P2293 on his '05 A4 2.0t with 97,000 miles on it about a month ago and decided to tell me about it now. took it out for a test drive and it feels like it has no power. it goes to a max of like 4k rpm and feels like the engine is really being held back and you can barely feel an acceleration difference whether i give it 1/4 throttle or WOT, if i held a full glass of water and floored it i wouldnt spill a drop, theres just no torque. i read about the cam follower issue w/ the HPFP and such and hoping it is not something too serious when i inspect it. I was just wondering if i take it apart and everything looks decent inside still(which im hoping), what would be the next step to look at? how would i know if just the HPFP is failing without any physical signs or how would i go about testing something like that? what would i look at afterwards..... do you think it could just be a really clogged fuel filter(never changed yet)?? i have a basic scan tool which shows me some live data and when i had it at idle and looked at Fuel Pressure on the scanner it was showing about 87-89psi. not sure where that pressure is being measured at in the fuel system though and if thats normal or not, i gave it a little gas and it hopped up to the 250psi range i believe i saw. i can always test again if needed though. any help/suggestions/questions would be appreciated, THANKS!!!

Or fuel pressure sender. Maybe get a physical gauge and test
