white smoke can be condensation or water vapor in the exhaust.
Might stem from a slow coolant leak in the head gasket. After you park the coolant leaks through the head gasket and into combustion chamber. When you start the car the coolant gets burned off and you see the white smoke.
Check to see if your coolant is decreasing (it shouldn't be). If it is I would look to the head gasket. Not hard to change it - but costs $$$ for the labor on that job.
It could also just be simple condensation in the exhaust being burned off - do you take a lot of short trips? If so then the car doesn;t get the chance to burn off the condensation that builds up in the exhaust system/muffler.
What about smell? Normal exhaust smell? Or does it smell rich (like fuel)?
