Once my ECU went crazy and started just revving out of nowhere when i started the car, but i was able to start the car though. I just shut it off and started again and it stopped.

My sunroof used to act up on its own, but it hasn;t done it in a while. I did replace my ecu when Ichipped, so maybe it was indeed the ecu.

Your car does have an "idle control valve", but usually a bad one of those means you idle way too low. A bad coolant temp sensor would keep your car from starting, but should not affect idle. A bad fuel pump/filter might be the cause. A plugged filter could cause surging.

Don't have access to a VAG?

Yeah, hot oil on your sensor would make it act a little crazy.I had to replace my coolant sensor last month - I had to crank my car like 20 times before it would start.

Hopefully your problem is solved!
