2.8 if you want the smooth power delivery and have no desire to tune the car (not nearly as muchavailable as for the 1,8). 1.8t if you want to mod the car and don't mind the lack of leather seats (1.8 has leatherette - which is not bad though) and some other interior features.</P>
Tiptronic is ok. But if you're used to a manual car then you probably wont be satisfied. If you are currently an automatic driver and want to have some sporty fun, then by all means a tiptronic will make you smile. I drive a tip and its fine for me.</P>
If you like the old style then try to get a 99.5 model year. Has a lot of improvements over the previous years, and a lack of some problems of the more current models.</P>
