Just bought a 2002 a4 monday with 64000 miles. Went to the dealer today to check on some things and asked when I should replace the timing belt and they to said 105,000, but recomended 90,000. I have a 12,000 mile warrenty so should I wait or replace it soon.
My timing belt broke at approx 60,000. I was VERY fortunate in that I didn't do any damage to the valves. This guy wasn't so lucky. Change the belt at 60,000. Much cheaper than rebuilding your engine.

I replace mine at 95k and the tensioner was at it's max nad the belt was stretched to the point where I might of only had a few miles left on it before it went on me. Replace at 60 -70 k to be safe.
