I never knew the 02 was the lowest of them all... and yeah the 6 spd would be enough to seal the deal for me.

6 speed, and painted lowers are huge! And yes the '02 sport suspension is the lowest Audi has made, but still not low enough.

Did you paint the lowers on the b6 too, flyinb? My dad should get his painted... but if it is an easy DIY... that might be cool! I know painting the lowers on the B6 is much more durable than on the b5... no rubber!

No, luckily the car came with them. He had them professionally done.

So I have learned that the 03's and up come with leather seats, and the 04's and up come with 6 speeds transmissions. I was at a dealer today looking at some really nice A4's, but they are ALL automatic triptronic. I would really prefer the manual since I will be doing driver schools as well as my daily driving. The quattro is definately preferred and you can guarantee that I will have one helluva beefed up suspension since my personal friend here in Central Florida is the world famous Randy Pobst. WE all know what this man can do with and Audi. If not, just watch him on Speed kicking some serious.....................................!!!!

The 2 major questions that I have is:

#1-Is the 5 speed (auto or manual on the 02-03 models) really high in RPM's on the highway? I have been told that the engines wind and scream alot.

#2-Based on most everyones opinions on this forum, if I DO find an '04 at an affordable price, should I get the manual 6 speed or the automatic 6 speed?

You guys have been great! Thanks for everything.

With my 5 speed at 80mph, rpm's are at 3900. I would prolly not take this car on a road trip. I bought it in LA, and had to drive it back to Phoenix, and the high rpm's got old quick. Especially when your exhaust is loud as hell. However, it does not bother me for my daily driving.

Has anyone had a 5 speed and moved onto a 6 speed? Is there a big difference based on your opinions? I have found a few of both but the price is much higher for an '04.

I have an 03 5spd so I thought the rpm's would be annoying too but with the stock exhaust, I dont hear the engine at all on the highway. And I take a 500 mile road trip every month. I cruise at 80 the whole time. Now if you had any kind of exhaust then yeah that would get old. Otherwise its a dam fine highway cruiser.

I drove my friends '03 today with a 5 speed manual and a magnaflow exhaust and it was not that bad at all. The rpm's are a little high at 85 mph, but I can live with it. Thanks for the input stranger706.
