Default 02 a4 1.8t chipped. need a little advice!!

Ok, so i have had my stock a4 for 8 months now and i am finally ready to take the plunge into chipping it. I am thinking of the giac chip because there are a few dealers close by. anyways, some guys are saying i need to add a bunch of stuff on top of the chip. I know i need a new DV but do i really need anything else besides that? should i be worried about other parts breaking down? i am not a racer, but would like a little more passing power.I'm on a budget and thinking this is the best way torwards a few more hp. any advice from you audi pros would be great! Thanks

Nope, all you need is a Bosch710N DV or better to go with the chip. Thats it.
A higher flowing exhuast is very recomended, but not necessary.

The stock one is bosch, but its weak and not really meant for any more boost than stock levels.

You dont have to worry about what it will feel like because you are going to replace the DV BEFORE you get chipped. Or, you should do it that way. The stock DV wont last long at all with a chip. Like, maybe a day or 2. So its not even worth finding out what the affects of the stock dv are with a chip. Get a 710N for $35 from http://www.purems.com/products/product.php/II=1752
If you left the stock dv in there and it broke your boost would be limited. There is a rubber diaphragm inside that will tear and will create an internal boost leak. The 710N comes with a better quality diaphragm and a beefier spring. Thats the only difference between the two. They are identical on the outside.

If you want reliability, don't second guess overbuilding your motor's intake system (eg. DV)... otherwise you might get stranded some where (worst case)
