Hello,

The GF and I are looking to add to our Audi stable. We are specifically looking at a '02 A4 Avant Quattro 1.8T Tiptronic w/ 47K.

What are the top 3-5 things that I should be looking for or worried about if any?

I will be having it checked out locally by 3 Zero 3 Motorsports first.

Top things to worry about..

1. What the first mod is going to be

2. who is going to drive it

3. what the second mod is going to be

4. what the third mod is going to be

5. who is going to drive it now that its got a bunch of mods

 

first thing's first...make sure all oil changes were done on time with synthetic. nothing like purchasing an older car and having to replace the entire engine soon after due to sludging!

Well of course you def. need a car fax report and I dunno if they'll do this with too old of cars or not but if you can get a certified '02 then that'd be the way to go.

P.S. What is the difference between an avant and a regular Audi Quatro?

 

An avant is european for wagon, or an estate car. Has nothing to do with the quattro label

 

First thing i would want to know is, is it big enough to have s*x in the back , my A4 is a lil small but i manage, 2nd is do you go for performace or style 3rd is certified Audi, check for maintence history and have them do a 128 point inspection or what ever they do, the 50K service is theer i would ask them to do that before you buy it. and CARFAX

It has carfax, I have the full documented service history. The GF will drive it w/o mods (so she thinks, I'll chip it and see if she notices).

I am pretty confident in it, I just didn't know if this model had any weird quirks. Do the DV's/BV's ever go out?
