04 A4 with 64k miles. Timing Belt Service When?
audi's maintenance package calls for it at 75k, most people seem to do it around that give or take 10k miles
im at 77-78k, and im fixing to do mine this weekend probably, of course i already have half the car torn down for the clutch and differential so while im waiting on the flywheel and differential to come back in, im probably going to do the timing belt. its a great time to install another turbo or FMIC if you want too

that is what Audi recommends, but there have been so many instances of them going prior to that. Given that people on here will recommend getting it done at 70-80k.

there you go,
hmm, my car's now 72k, i'll do it on 85k then. thx
just noticed one thing..
on the official 02 and 03 A4 maintenance schedule, they recommands Timing belt replace on 105K miles (both 1.8T and 3.0 engines)
but on official 04 A4 maintenance schedule, they recommands Timing belt replace on 75k miles (both 1.8T and 3.0 engines)
looks like they made a change on following years' maintenance schedule cuz those 2 engines are the same.

Any indicators to look for precursor to the timing belt going? I'm at 75k and thinking about changing mine out, but wanted to know if doing a visual inspection if you can see any signs that the time has come? From what i've heard its not the actual belt thats the problem but the components in line with it, correct?
"better safe than sorry..."
I'm not too sure about indications of it being on it's last legs, but I just wanted to keep driving a car that I'm still paying for.
