So i ran 3 runs last night at the speedway against my buddy who has an unchipped passat, 2003 1.8T, same engine as me. I have APR exaust, state one chip, and 007 DV. Our times were both around 16.6 - 17.4 .....he actually beat me on the last run. I know you may say I am just a horrible driver, but i actually watched about midway down the track and we were shifting at the same time and were even.....and he actually pulled away a little at the end. I was expecting 15.7 or there abouts with the chip....and i CERTAINLY was hoping to beat an unchipped car. I have 2 theories:

- I changed from the green spring in my DV to the yellow one the day before the race......it actually felt worse then the green one...seemed like i had less turbo boost (need a boost guage to be sure )
- The APR tune needs to be reflashed....when i bought it it didnt take the first time and they had to do it twice that day at the shop.

Has anyone ever had to get their ECU re-flashed because the software was screwed up / gone ??

 

ive heard of dealers clearing it sometimes accidently...

those are pretty bad times... i too thought a 1+ at least should be in the mid to low 15s...

 

you should be running a high 15, low 16 at worst.

go check your chip,

also get a boost gauge, thatspring most likely is giving you a boost leak which will cause horrible times lol

 

Thanks....ill do that this week. I got paired against a 11 second mustang.......ill never forget the humiliation of being half way down the track and seeing him already done

 

get a boost guage!!! it will tell you lots of information. like...your boost. which is directly related to your chip

 

You say you have a state one chip and also APR. Which one do you have? or am I missing something here.

maybe he means apr stage 1? if your chipped then that time is a little high, you might have a boost leak somewhere..

 

+1000 on the boost guage, without knowing what ur boostin it's kinda hard to figure out why you ran such sh!tty times...

sounds like you may have the car in valet mode....or you have a massive boost leak....does you car feel really slow?

I would say that you are prolly in stock mode

You've got to be in stock mode somehow, or have a boost leak. I ran 17.2 stock, so you should be at least better than that.

For the 1001st time, get a boost guage!

 

Or get a real vagcom and you can do datalogging including boost.
