from what I've heard it is a direct swap and you just need to change over your mounts

Let me get this straight, the 2.8 Quattro transmission fits on the 1.8t Quattro engine? Are you refering to the automatic?

If so, Is it a stronger transmission, and would it fit onto the FWD model 1.8t?

AFAIK, there completely interchangable. IE Quattro 2.8>Quattro 1.8T and vice versa.

FWD and AWD trans are not interchangabe. Think about that one a little harder and you'll understand why, no offense.

this might sound dump. ....but can you change a 1.8t a4 tip transmission to a 1.8t a4 MANUAL transmission? if so, how?

you gotta get all the hydrolic lines and pedal and required linkage im pretty sure.
i have the tip and would love to swap out to the manual.
