Hi,
I am considering getting an a4 avant for my wife. She has to have an auto. Does anyone think that the 1.8 turbo is a good combo for the auto, or should we stick with the v6? I am concerned with excessive lag with the turbo, auto combo, but they seem to be more plentiful and less expensive.

Either teach her to drive a shift, or get a new wife

The 1.8T and the tiptronic is a perfectly servicable combination. Good mileage, although the overall reliability and durability of the 1.8T is less than the 2.8

i drive a 18t tiptronic works fine, even with my upgrades pushin the envelope and 108k

It really shouldnt be a problem unless she is a performance freak. Which She doesnt appear to be.

ya if your not gonna do any crazy major mods go for the automatic

why would she be concerned with turbo lag if shes not a preformance freak? lol
